SHIRLEY HARRIS

Chairman

I started riding when I was 8 until my teens, and started again in my 30s.   I first vounteered for RDA some 5 years ago.  When I retired I wanted to do some voluntary work. I knew of the RDA and jumped at the chance to volunteer. It is a very rewarding way to spend time.  I am delighted to have helped start and to continue to be involved in Shedfield RDA. It is a joy to work with the other Trustees, volunteers and riders. The major part of my working life was spent as an IT professional.  This is so much more fun!

ANN-MARIE

Treasurer

I first learnt to ride as I young child until my early teens, and returned to it when I bought my first horse two and a half years ago. I had wanted to get involved with the RDA for a number of years but work commitments would not allow. When I changed jobs and undertook a college course, I finally had the time to volunteer and I joined a local group, where I met Shirley and found Woody, my wonderful horse. I enjoy riding very much and I love seeing other people getting as much out of it as I do. My career has been spent in finance, so I naturally became the treasurer of our new group, and it's much more fun! It is great to be part of a team that have formed a new RDA group and I look forward to many years of providing happy, rewarding and stimulating riding to others who enjoy it too.

FIONA REARDON

Secreatary

I didn’t start riding until later in life ... but I have always loved horses from when I was very young.  It wasn’t until my daughter became fond of horse riding that I really got into it.  I bought a horse a couple of years ago for both my daughter and myself to look after and ride.  It has been a major learning curve and hard work but rewarding.  I met Ann-Marie at the stables where I kept my horse and volunteered to help with the RDA group.  I became Secretary, which is perfect for me as my background is in Hotel, Catering and Event Management, so my skills are business management, marketing and administration, so as I am sure if you ask anyone, they will tell you ... I love paperwork!  As I now run my own business I don’t have a lot of time to help in the sessions ... but I am heavily involved with the organization behind the scenes and administration.  I am looking forward to helping make this a well run and happy RDA group for both the riders and volunteers that take part.
